Probably the most attractive management team ever.
Bryant Wong - Chief Financial Officer
Bryant Wong is Zoxsy’s financial wizard, experienced in handling and growing money despite the pitfalls. What he learned co-founding half a dozen companies and investing in over twenty start-up companies will be extremely valuable here at Zoxsy.
A brilliant educational career led Bryant to solid relationships with top executives as he either worked for or advised multi-million dollar companies in their rise to even greater heights. Penn, Notre Dame, Cornell and Harvard were all impressed with his mind. His leadership at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Deloitte Consulting and Sand Hill Road funded companies are amongst the highlights in a stellar career history.
Excited by the concept of a crossover music network, he believes the power of connecting musicians, writers and business people is the obvious next step for everybody. His experience in internet start-ups and established Big Four firms will increase the range of Zoxsy’s influence and connection. As the network grows, Bryant’s deep familiarity with high level investments and financial operations and management will keep us one step ahead of the curve.
Jeff Wallace - Chief Operations Officer
Day to day, every group needs somebody to watch for better ways to move ahead. Jeff Wallace’s Bachelor of Arts in Economics/Finance and his MBA gave him a solid foundation. At Berkeley for his MBA, he focused on the methods and framework of new technology entrepreneurship. From financial markets through real-time internet innovations in training and information distribution, his career led him to expertise in new uses for the internet.
By the start of the 21st century Jeff not only knew web commerce inside and out, he pioneered new ways of growing business that made sense – and strengthened revenues. Music labels, Television production companies and online consulting firms all grew with Jeff’s help. So did investment firms in real estate, strategic alliance partnerships and even consumer goods.
Never shy, he has developed powerful public speaking and lecturing skills to make his ideas come to life. Zoxsy will need and use that experience as we take our rightful place in the music industry. Jeff Wallace will be watching the whole industry for new directions as technology leads us beyond the horizon.
Mike Matthews - Chief Information Officer
Mike brings a unique blend of Information Technology and hard manufacturing experience to our company. His great experience in managing complex issues and huge numbers of people will be more and more useful in the next few years. Zoxsy expects to go as far as needed to bring the pieces of the music industry together; Mike has done that for Kelley-Clarke and Hewlett-Packard just to mention a small piece of his career history.
Rubbing shoulders with top executives at Fortune 500 companies and garage businesses before the boom, he makes eloquent presentations to single customers as well as packed board rooms. Mike has been a fluent liaison between departments and divisions, built deals across state lines and international boundaries. Mike has brought diverse people together to reach a common goal his entire work history.
Jeff Jimerson - Co-founder and Chief Design Officer
Jeff might be an Oregon resident, but his exposure and skills are international. Graduating from Oregon State, he moved quickly to become a senior designer at Edge Design and Advertising. Both print and online successes as a freelancer and employee in this contemporary design firm led him to a good idea. He created a collaborative company in Corvallis for other creative professionals.
Similar to Zoxsy in many ways, he opened a artists’ workshop on Madison Avenue, and invited others to share it with him. As a base of operations, Madison Avenue Collective provides a professional space for meetings with clients and, most importantly, access to each other. In this way, Jeff is a natural fit at Zoxsy; he has already seen the tremendous power of collaboration with like minded people.
As our website designer, Jeff brings years of experience in both graphics and the more technical aspects of website structure and content. He and his team will be keeping our internet engine running smoothly, while helping it grow into new dimensions as our company does. Paperworks, Mentor Graphics and even a widely hailed nonprofit organization have been helped to exceed initial promise with his help.
Michael Millard - Chief Technology Officer
Michael Millard first met the internet in 1992, discovering a connection through his dorm room's phone line to Texas Tech's VAX system. The first thing he did was search for R.E.M. lyrics, and when he found every single song in about 30 seconds, he was hooked on the marriage of music and the internet.
While working as a DJ in college, he became obsessed with bringing multimedia to the world wide web. Michael began learning HTML and building web pages in 1996 and launched his first internet radio station (Prairie Dog Radio) three years later. He continued to hone his web development skills and began working as a freelance developer in 2001. In 2009, Michael met the founder and other entrepreneurs at Zoxsy.com, and his obsession with music and the internet found its most creative outlet yet.
Michael has worked as lead developer on recent projects for Comic Book Resources in Los Angeles, as well as Asmble New Media Construction and Spitball Media in Portland, Oregon. Admittedly, he thinks that his most exciting and challenging opportunity yet is being chief developer of Zoxsy.com. We’re pretty happy about it, too.
James Schildknecht - VP of Partnerships
Clemson University in South Carolina and then the University of Central Florida first saw James Schildknecht as he gathered the information needed to obtain his Master’s Degree in Mass Communication. Right off the starting line, James took over the Assistant Music Director position at The Box Music Network that was quickly absorbed into MTV2 into early 2001. This pattern he followed into successful rolls with AOL/MusicNow, Cox Radio Networks, Cellpoint Mobile and most recently with Moblyng, Inc.
Both major and independent labels have been pleased with the results James has produced through huge shares of listeners, viewers and visitors living on the sites he has promoted and developed. James is convinced that Zoxsy is the next step in bringing music to the exact audience it needs. If anything, he is certain the labels will be as thrilled at the prospects as are the artists.
Label execs will be watching as he once more connects them with the hottest artists, always seemingly a full block ahead of the demanding public. Whatever format or vehicle is to be the next media, James will be there to lend his experience and instinctive promotional style.
Christine Carney - Director of Artist Relations
Do you remember when you bought event tickets in person from a Ticketmaster booth? Christine Carney started working for them right out of school, and as the entertainment industry grew and changed, so did she. Christine took on more and more responsibility through travel networks, MusicMatch and recently an online MP3 company. From general organizer and “go to” producer, she has moved through production, writing and organizing positions.
Past manager of large entertainment industry projects, she now handles artists and performers, impossible schedules and total strangers. All of this makes things go exactly right. Zoxsy is excited she will bring her list of international celebrities and event planners to our party. Magazines and band managers alike can expect to hear her friendly voice announcing the next hottest event on our behalf. That is, unless they call her first, like they’ve been doing for years.
Equally likely to know where to find a staff person for a rock band or how to get bogus profiles removed from a social website, Christine is usually a blur of activity, on or off the job. If she is spotted, it’s usually behind a camera working on tomorrow’s headlines or promoting her latest venture. We are pleased she has joined our team.
Gray Gannaway - Director of Label Relations
Here’s a name and a story that is getting a lot of attention. Gray Gannaway stormed through the University of North Carolina at Asheville, keeping an internship at Music + Art Management, Inc. and still scoring a place on the Dean’s Top 10% list and a near perfect overall GPA. With his BS in Music Technology in hand, Gray won a Publishing Administration Manager slot at Rumblefish, initiating and guiding their innovative licensing.
Just a few months later, his reputation earned him the number two slot at a growing company in the Northwest U.S. that was to make the last really big splash in the music industry – CD Baby. As Senior VP of Business Development and Digital Distribution, Gray met literally every demand with a fresh approach. He had to; there were no precedents. He now finds himself in the same open water with Zoxsy, and we’re excited to see how big the next splash will be.
In the last five years Gray Gannaway has been listed as a panelist, networker and promoter at over forty music conferences and industry festivals. The latest and biggest, MIDEM in Cannes, let him meet the most influential artists, representatives and executives in the digital music industry. He’s going to make sure the library of art works and contacts at Zoxsy is state of the art and ready to use.
Matt Aalto - Director of Marketing
If you want to become influential, you need connections. You need somebody who can visualize the people who need each other and then connect them together. We’ve already begun that journey, and we’re bringing Matt Alto into Zoxsy to make sure it happens.
You may have heard of Rumblefish, Digital Trends or his own firm, Rightfield Media. Yahoo, Google, MSN Canada, and many other syndication giants have heard of Matt, because he negotiated with them for rights to a bootstrap high tech online company. He never loses an address, either. Matt has volumes of executives, agents and celebrities and Zoxsy will be the next big thing he talks about.
Matt’s imagination keeps jumping to Zoxsy’s future, and the obvious direction of the music industry in the coming age of information. He is certain with the best from the best and a whole bucket of new ideas, our network of local friends and acquaintances is going to grow virally. That’s what we expect, and Matt Aalto has always delivered.
